LidAndSeek Support

LidAndSeek keeps track of what you have stored in boxes, tubs, and bins, so you can ask "where are my ski goggles?" and get an answer.

Getting started

  1. Add a location such as Garage or Basement. Locations can have sub-locations (Garage → Top Shelf).
  2. Add a container inside a location and give it a photo.
  3. Add items to the container. "Add by Camera" lets you photograph several items in a row; Smart Naming suggests names from the photos.
  4. Label the container: create a QR label to print on Avery 22806 sheets, link a code you already own, or write the label to an NFC tag.
  5. Find things with Search, by scanning a label, or by asking Siri: "Where are my ski goggles in LidAndSeek?"

Common questions

Does it sync between my devices? Yes, through your private iCloud database when you are signed into iCloud. Settings shows the sync status. Signing out of iCloud removes the synced copy from that device; sign back in to restore it.

Is there a subscription or a "pro" upgrade? No. LidAndSeek is a one-time purchase: no in-app purchases, no subscription, no item limits, no ads. Everything is included.

Can I get my data out? Settings → Export Inventory CSV produces a spreadsheet of every item with its container, location, and label code.

Smart Naming suggested the wrong name. Suggestions are a starting point. Tap a different chip, or type the name. On a busy background, the photo's surroundings can influence the guess; a closer shot helps. Smart Naming can be turned off in Settings.

Siri doesn't recognize an item. Siri learns item names when the app runs. Open LidAndSeek once after adding items, then try again. Phrases that work: "Where are my … in LidAndSeek", "Where is the … in LidAndSeek", "Find … in LidAndSeek".

Scanning doesn't pick up a label. Use the flashlight button in low light, move closer, and hold still for a moment. Damaged or very small codes may need reprinting.

How do I add the widget? Touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for LidAndSeek. It shows your item, container, and location counts, with Search and Scan buttons that open the app on that tab. If the counts read zero, open the app once so it can load them.

Which NFC tags work? Any writable NDEF tag (NTAG213/215/216 stickers are common and inexpensive). Write the label from the container's "…" menu. To read one, open the Scan tab, tap Read NFC Tag, and hold the top of your iPhone near the sticker.
